These general purpose kitchen knives were forged entirely by hand from high carbon W2 steel and have handles made from toasted black walnut. Black walnut as in the species of tree. The black walnut is actually black because I toasted it. The wood itself is actually a darkish brown, darker than English walnut, I guess maybe that’s why they call it black walnut, I’m not sure! Anyway, moving swiftly on; The handles are a sort of soft hexagon, the blades have a pleasing taper and balance.
This knives combine a high degree of functionality, combined with heaps of character. Due to the natural, untreated nature of the high carbon steel and the handle material, this knife will patinate and change over time. Please see the care and guarantee section of my website before purchase.
These knives all differ ever so slightly from each other, but specifications are pretty much uniform and are as follows, the distal taper is pictured and the balance point is around the mark;
Blade length; ca. 125mm
Blade height at heel; ca. 35mm
Handle length, from the heel; ca. 130mm
